The legacy of the past
The insects "à la Beauchesne" are the legacy of anatomy research of a French scientist in the eighteenth century. In order to better share his passion for entomology, he found a way to present the insects internal biology… In tribute to Dr. Beauchesne, we do perpetuate the tradition.
A long-term work
Made from specimen selected for their beauty or their spectacular shape, their preparation requires a knowledge and skill of its own. The insects are first softened, then every part of their body, down to the smallest segment, is separated. Each piece is then dried, cleaned, and then carefully mounted on a brass frame while respecting the original distances.
True art work
Presented in a glass bowl or in tabular form in curved glass, the insect so "splited" is a reflection of the original specimen 2.5 times bigger! The scientific name of the insect and its country of origin are engraved on a brass plate placed inside the box. Each achievement, result of several tens of hours of patience and thoroughness, is a unique piece.
